Our Solutions

Fractional Leadership

Senior functional leadership at the fraction of a role you actually need. A finance, HR, procurement or technology leader, embedded on a defined commitment rather than hired into a full-time seat.

Secondment of senior executives

A named executive placed into your organisation for a defined period, working under your governance and inside your team rather than advising from outside it.

Interim cover

A leadership gap covered properly, so a permanent hire is made on the right timetable instead of under pressure.

  • Continuity

Build and hand over

The fractional leader sets the function up and hands it to the permanent hire, who arrives to a working function rather than a blank sheet.

  • Set-up
  • Handover

Governance and reporting

Board and committee reporting, policy ownership and the decisions that need a signature from someone accountable.

How it runs

How a fractional engagement runs

Scoped by the role rather than sold as a package, because two days a month of governance is a different job from a build phase.

  1. Scope the role

What the organisation actually needs a senior person for, which decisions they will own, and how many days a month that honestly takes.

  2. Match

A named executive with the functional depth for the work, put in front of you before anything is agreed.

  3. Embed

They work inside your governance and your team, with the decision rights the role was scoped to carry.

  4. Review or hand over

The commitment is reviewed on a set cadence, and either continues, steps down, or hands over to a permanent hire.

Questions

Questions we are asked about fractional leadership

How is this different from hiring an interim?
An interim is one person you carry the risk on. A fractional leader arrives with a firm behind them, so there is cover when they are away, specialists to escalate to, and a documented handover at the end rather than whatever is left in their head.
How much of their time do we actually get?
An agreed commitment, set at the start — commonly a fixed number of days a month with defined availability between them. It is written into the engagement so both sides know what has been bought.
Which roles can you cover?
The six functions we run: finance, HR, procurement, marketing, technology and project management. CXO as a service and a fractional Chief Marketing Officer are the two asked for most often.
Can they build the team that replaces them?
Yes, and that is often the brief. Build and hand over means recruiting the permanent leader, standing up the processes and controls, and leaving when the function no longer needs them.
What if we decide we need someone full time?
Then the engagement has done its job. We would rather help you hire the right permanent person than keep a fractional seat filled past the point where it makes sense.
